Venice is undoubtedly, one of Europe's most beautiful cities and is an ideal place for city break. With some fantastic museums, restaurants, bars and much more, this is a superb city for a short European break or long holidays. Venice is considered to be one of the most romantic cities in the world and rightly so. From the moment your aircraft begins its descent into Venice and you see that the city is actually built on water; you know that this is going to be a holiday with a difference! Having landed at Marco Polo Airport, you take a public water bus (or private water taxi which is more expensive but faster) to Piazza San Marco (St Mark's Square) from where you then make your way, by foot, to your hotel.
There no cars, bikes or any form of motorised vehicles in the historical centre of Venice. Indeed, the only way to explore the city is by foot or, of course, by gondola. Highlights of any trip should include a visit to the Guggenheim art gallery, an evening spent at the Venice Casino, shopping in Venice Market by Rialto Bridge and taking in the view at sunset from outside St Mark's Basilica.
Tourism is the main industry in Venice, with over 12 million visitors enjoying Venice holidays every year. The population of Venice is 70,000 and serving the tourists is their main occupation, as many of them work in bars, cafes and restaurant.
